Bio: As an avid amateur photographer for many years, my tendancy is to choose subjects with potential rather than things that look good to begin with and therein lies my challenge – the main aim being to help myself see things differently and hopefully convey that to others. I often look for an odd angle or composition and like most photographers, have become a keen observer. Most of the station complex dates from 1890 - it includes seven houses, a large courtyard with stables, woolshed and meat house, large gardens with a folly, an interesting fruit house, office, stables, groom’s quarters and shearing quarters. Abandoned cities of the mind - a place we all go sometimes. The flock of pigeons burst out of these old vacant farm buildings when I approached, but I just managed to get them in the frame. The low level and eveness of light available on overcast days can be a bonus for digital photography because highlights and contrasts are minimal. Exposures are not as demanding for sensors, allowing for greater scope for post processing. The Murray River at Murray Bridge, South Australia. Due to bad water management at Federal and State level, many farmers who rely upon this source for irrigation are not receiving proper water quotas even though the river is now in flood. As a result of the long term drought and this latest fiasco, some farmer's have faced bankruptcy and left the land. This old Chevy is at the National Railway Museum, Australia's largest railway museum with over 100 exhibits representing State, Commonwealth and private railway operators on the three major rail gauges used in Australia. I'm not really into cars, but thought this old bomb was worth a snap - it's on tracks and presumably the camouflage colours mean it was used during WW2. I should have read the guff adjacent to find out about it. Fish shed in the quiet seaside town of Hastings on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. I didn't realise the prominence of the background hoarding until the image was processed as I was more intent on the action and subsequently after previewing several shots, settled on editing this one without other people in the frame. The humble gesture of pigeon feeding by this old lady, complete with slippers, zimmer frame and baggage, standing there in light rain, struck me as being a worthwhile subject. Not a great shot by any standard but I like the way it turned out. Reflections in a city office tower. Old abandoned workhorse in rural town - South Australia.
