; ) my girlfriends back alley, (no rude comments please)! ; ) lady bug The statue of Cook was presented to the town of Whitby by the Hon. Sir Gervase Becket, M.P. and unveiled in 1912. The sculptor John Tweed made the seven feet six inches high bronze figure of Cook on its freestone pedestal.The inscription on it reads:“For the lasting Memory of a great Yorkshire seaman this bronze has been cast, and is left in the keeping of Whitby; the birthplace of those good ships that bore him on his enterprises, brought him to glory, and left him at rest.”The monument can be seen today on Whitby’s West Cliff. from our trip to whitby, my brother threw a few chips on the floor and within seconds we were surrounded! had to climb over the barbed wire fence to get this shot, this is the weir at naburn locks near york! the result of a little spare time : ) driving to work, brilliant sky, light fading fast, nowhere to stop and get some pics, found a hole through a thick hedgerow thorn bush and this is what i saw (best of a bad situation!) busy little harbour, there was a weird mist rolling about scarborough town that day with little sun breaks inbetween! another experiment! i really need some new material,  when i get the time to go take a few shots,  the weather is pants! a 3 image hdr. distant view of the parish church of St Mary over looking the harbour in whitby! toned down the colours slightly as the original was very orange indeed with the low sun! late for work so got a quick snap shot, would have loved to take a little more time to find a good comp, as the mist was magical! only puddle ive seen in ages, liked the lonesome cone and cracks so snapped away at it!
