This was shot using an Eos 5 35mm film camera.  I printed a 10x8” from the negative then photographed the print (digitally) with a 100mm macro to create a 1:1 ratio digital file. I lit the 10x8” using a single bounced 580EX ii speedlite and reflector.  (Ok I could have scanned the neg but that would have been too straight forward!) Taken last week in Co. Leitrim, Ireland. First post in a while! Giovanni is a guy who can be seen begging around Galway regularly. Really interesting guy with tons of attitude! This is one of the first frames I took with my brand spanking new 5D Mk ii :) I went for an old photograph look with the processing on this one, just seemed to suit it I thought! Came across this little lake while exploring in Connemara, Co. Galway yesterday evening.  There are so many little lakes and mountains around every corner.  I used a 0.9 soft ND.  Never mind the Costa Del Sol, come to Galway for your summer hols this year and don't forget your camera :) The Burren in Co. Clare is a conservation area comprising of limestone, looks a bit like the moon! Sunset on Galway Bay last Sunday evening. This part of the river Bonet was completely frozen over and there were wonderful little frozen clumps of snow dotted all over the ice.  I think that the image works better in mono as the light is fairly contrasty. Temperatures were getting as low as -20C at night which is the coldest I've ever heard of for the West Of Ireland. Portland Head Lighthouse, Maine U.S.A. Great to see the weather picking up.  Time to splash the colour again! This is taken from the banks of Lough Corrib at sunset yesterday evening. A simple shot of a fisherman gutting mackerel on Nimmo's Pier, Galway. A strange phenomenon has been taking place in Galway Bay in the last week. Immeasurable numbers of herring sprats followed by an equally mind boggling number of mackerel have been coming in with each high tide. The seagulls and seals are having the feast of their lives! A leaf lit directly from behind with one snooted speedlite.
