Bio: Originally from Hartlepool in the UK, but was whisked away to foreign lands by my beautiful wife Melissa. I would just like to thank everyone visiting my gallery and particularly the regular visitors as they have been true inspirations to pick up my camera and hopefully improve. Many thanks to all.

A shot of Flamborough lighthouse in North Yorkshire. I found this semi lit alley way down at the old souk. It was rather nicely lit and waited ages for one of these barrow men to come along. I really wanted only the barrow man for the shot but as it didn't happen I decided to concentrate the light on him and throw the other people into the shadows. As it is I think the extra arabs add to the poignancy of the barrow man's story as it is their load he carries. Who will lighten his load? I think he already knows and he's looking through the window above him. This could be my last submission for a while as work is very busy and Melissa is due to give birth to our first in the next week or so but I will endeavour to get round your galleries when I can to check out your latest. Have a great weekend all. Happy New Year everyone. Not been around a while since school had been manic and then Christmas hols was sooo busy. I promise to get round your galleries soon. This was taken during a drama workshop at school and the guy is Jonny Dixon as King Richard III You don't get much greenery around Qatar so it was quite a surprise to find this little area. I did like this spot and the light poking through the bushes was really atmospheric. A shot of Roseberry I discovered lurking in the archives.  It is definitely the lasy one. This is my first offering from the sunny realms of Doha, Qatar.  I haven't had much chance to get with my camera since getting here as we have been so busy. I have been job hunting, I had an interview at Melissa's (the wife) school this morning which went well.. so fingers crossed there.  Anyway, this is really the only time I've had to get out and this was taken round the back of our apartment. It's essentially a bit of wasteland where people have just dumped their unwanted cars! But I thought it was a good opportunity for a few different shots and the chance to try out some new pp styles. I have always said that the light over here is so harsh and hard to work with, but instead, and certainly in this series of shots, I have worked with it and I'm quite happy with the results. I know I promised sandy vistas but you'll have to do with dusty abandoned cars for now. Well, I'm off to check out what you have all been submitting whilst I can since I only have internet access at the local Costa coffee shop where I have been subjected to renditions of Bee Gees "Night Fever" in the style of pan pipes! Odd combination, but please don't even mention the version of Queens "We Will Rock You"! A quick one taken while in Blighty over Christmas. I used a couple of layers to boost the contrast and also some dodge and burn to accent the light. Have a great weekend all. One of the gatehouse to Sewerby Grange in Yorkshire. Sorry not been around lately but being a Dad takes up a lot of time - not that I'm complaining. Hope you are all well and thanks for looking. Managed to get out of nappy duties for an hour (thanks Mel) to find nobody was about! Until this guy walked past these wonderful cobalt blue doors - the contrasting colours was instantly appealing. Trying to get some good shots of our new baby Bailey. The light here was great as there was some small roofing that illuminated the man perfectly. I used a little dodge and burn to accentuate the light and shadow. Ideally I would like to get some closer shots next timeand a little less candid so I reckon I'll just have to dip into my pocket for it - which is fair enough. All comments and criticism is more than welcome and probably much needed. Although I like the colour version I still prefer this as, for me , it seems to naturally focus on the waiter without the eye being sidetacked by the deep colours. Black and white doesn't have to be dominated by heavy blacks or greys so for this one to accent the idea of education being 'illuminating' I have gone for dominant whites. This is a candid taken at school of the very shy Ainsley studying music. My 200th submission to DP - unfortunately it's another archival raid. I really must get out more! Again it's from the Headland in my hometown. ... all ye who enters here. This is an ampitheatre nearing it's completion located within the Qatar Cultural Village. There's still a lot of work going on around here and I reckon it's going to be a spectacular place when it's finished. A little one I found in the archives from last years hiatus in the Cleveland Hills. Seven weeks time and hopefully I can get more from round these parts. Hope everyone has a great weekend - now let's have a look at your galleries while Bailey sleeps. Managed an hour out the other day, thanks Melissa, and although it was one of those days where nothing seems to happen or nobody is a bout I spotted this archway to a modern souq. The light was good and I loved the lines and tones. I tried it in mono but I prefer the warmth of this one. Hope everyone is well and thanks for viewing. Taken in the Katara area and this is inside the ampitheatre where you are 'kindly' asked not to take photographs. Oh well.... Processed in PS4, adjusted a few levels, dodge and burn and added a little sharpening. Enjoy your weekend!
