in Cofu Town It is hard to get an interesting and unique cityscape of NYC, particularly of the Empire State, but I hope the angle makes it more interesting, as does the use of B&W. As a student I feel this summarises the more traditional side of education. I had to stand quite far away, on full macro extension to get the right selective focus for this one. I decided to make the scene a little more magical- it just seemed such a beautiful place- so I asked a friend to light paint the path for me on a long exposure. I think it works quite nicely. Taken from Brooklyn, NYC, the selective colouring of the shot and angle add real emphasis and effect, I believe. I love the contrast between the cars and the chapel here. I wish I had used HDR on this, as it may have been more effective, but to achieve the soft focus I used the macro on my 300mm Tamron and stood a way back. The sharpness of the frost is natural- wire and frost seem to have this effect, and I love the moody colours of the early morning. I have to confess to a wee bit of level adjustment in photoshop. My favourite shot from Greece. Selectively de-saturated. I loved this shot- it is perfect for black & white. The light coming in from low on the right is actually from a building.
