QVB - Sydney - HDR Autumn Wonderland | Mount Wilson | NSW | The Blue Mountains | Australia The weather at Mount Wilson was overcast and cold and misty just perfect for shooting HDR images Nikon D200 Tokina 11-16 f2.8 @11mm Photomatix HDR I metered the scene to obtain the exposure settings across the image, I then calculated the main exposure set the camera to manual and shot the 5 exposures +/- 1 stop in bracketing mode to obtain a 2 stop over and a 2 stop under exposure across the scene. I needed 2 stop each way to capture the details in the image in these low light conditions so I could extract the optimum amount of detail from the highlights and shadows in the scene, The images where captured with the camera mounted on a tripod with a cable release. More than five tonnes of fireworks explode over Sydney Harbour,The Midnight Creation Storm lasted 12 minutes, culminating in a display dubbed the Bridge Effect, which will use both decks of the bridge. . For the ninth year in a row, the display has been masterminded by Fortunato Foti. 30 images shot one over one under HDR in portrait mode to create 10 images then stitched together.
