Baker Street tube station was first used back in 1863 making it one of the oldest (if not the oldest) stations worldwide. It 's been a long time since my last post, but duo to army I couldn't find anytime! I actually count more than 3500 shots with my D90, but most of them are from army events, thus not allowed to publish them. This photo is one example of my work with D90 and my 50mm prime so far. Please expand. Comments and suggestions are more than welcome as always!  Joakim singer of Sabaton while singing The situate of a young fisherman who was about to start fishing. It was during Every hot summer day the seaside area of Molos and Enaerios is full of people who wants to enjoy a walk next to the sea or even swim a little bit. Some others however, even if the area isn't well known for it's fishes enjoy just sitting there with some pals or alone, gazing at the sea and have a fishing pod with them in case they get anything.  The old man at the picture is a such man, you can always find him there, everyday of the summer and some warm days of the winter, trying to capture anything. A while after I shot this, it begun raining all day and the sea went crazy! Shot at Molos area, Limassol, Cyprus A wood cutting machine from an old boat shop. This is a shot of a friend of mine, who is a regular cosplayer. In this photo she is cosplaying her favourite character From my Ayia Napa Youth Festival series, Christos Guitarist for Bare Infinity. Another D90 shot. An old lock, on my grandma's house fence. It is there for as long as I can remember things. This is one is also my first to process on Photoshop CS5. I used it's HDR tuning tool, the new PS version looks promising so far... George Bakas guitarist of the Death Metal band Rotting Christ on stage head banging! Thanksfully they allowed me to go on stage as well to capture such images! Another experiment that I think went well. I like it how the fisherman's rod is like touch the sun. I enchand the lighting to the sky, left the original A low angle shot, from Molos area. I had to climb some rocks to get it, but I think it worth it. Wanted to get the ships at first, using a telephoto lens, but later on decided to try something more wide and get them from distance, so not to sacrifice my foreground. Any thoughts? Please expand Sunrise as seen at St. Barbara's beach While I agree with some people at the forums, that DP is NOT a social network site, like Facebook or Twister, DP is all about photos. However photos are all about emotions, feelings that the photographer has while he/she captures a moment for a lifetime. In other words, I personally think that emotional pictures to a personal/national/global level pictures should be allowed to the site, as long as the person who publish them doesn't violate any terms of use. This picture is one of those that they describe a feeling. This photo is dedicate to a friend of mine, Melina Green. She made an art excibition some months ago and thanks to that I relised I shouldn't be shy of my work or be afraid of negative comments, she really inspired me in a way or another and thus I registered at DP and started posting. Being here is largely thanks to her. I post this picture with her name and as a big thanks. A picture worth a thousand words as they say... PS: I hope she will let me get some potraits of her soon =D Maybe after my dslr return from repairs. Opuntia fruit, also know as Cactus Fruit or by the locals: "Παπουτσόσικα" (papoutsosika). A fruit that it has it's own special place into the Cypriot cuisine. Not only it is a pleasure to eat during the hot summer as a refresher, but also it is a well-used traditional medicine. Moreover it is worthy to mention that Cyprus not only is one of the few countries who have cactus fruits in the E.U, but also it is the highest exporter lately!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opuntia I shot this while I was on a Lauri Porra bass player of the world famous power metal band Stratovarius! This one is from their live concert in Agia Napa, Cyprus. Stratovarius live from Ayia Napa Youth Festival. It was hard to get proper pictures of them as they put as a ground rule that photographers are allowed only in the first ten minutes, so I was kinda anxious as trial and failure wasn't an option. The man was seating in a chair in bright daylight and with a white wall behind him, so I thought about using spot metering, to exposed him and the medals right, while casting-out the background into plain white by over-exposing it. Moreover I thought about focusing on his medals instead on his face, since he was holding them with such pride and using a relative small aperture - f/3.9 (small for Olympus cameras, as they provide more DoF duo to the smaller 4/3 sensor -in my opinion) I tried to have him defocused, but yet visible. The results are here! Comments are appreciated.  A small history lesson for those interested: A Cypriot World War II veteran, who fought alongside with the British Eight Army in Egypt. In fact more than thirty thousands Cypriots fought voluntarily under the British Command by the end of the war in the so-called: Cypriot Regiment. The Regiment saw action in Dunkirk, Greece, North Africa, France, Middle East and Italy. The specific soldier served as a Royal Engineer in the Regiment, during Operation Compass in Egypt. Other than the British Army medals (anyone who knows what each medal is please do so), long after the establishment of The Republic of Cyprus and various political movements, he was awarded a "Τιμής Ένεκεν" medal. In a free translation it means: "You are worthy of honor" and it is one of the highest Cypriot medals an individual can get in combat.
