Bio: Thanks to all the lovely photographers on DP I have now got the confidence to try other Genre's of photography. Dont get me wrong you are still going to see my beloved floral shots!! : )

Time for the annual RHS Wisley Butterfly show - I wanted to capture the outside pattern on the wings as well a the beautiful colour inside. Thought the contrast of the bamboo worked nicely. Love Owls - dont we all but what facinated me about this profile shot of a Barn Owl was the different textures of his feathers from the snowflake effect around his eyes through to the beautiful soft white spotted feathers on this body! So there was me thinking that I was boring everyone with too many flower shots only to be asked for more!! Who would have thought : )) Sorry Sjoerd, I should have titled it 'Bee Picinic Maybe'??? Early one morning along the Thames, the sunlight was creating great shadows under the Railway Bridge between Barnes & Putney. Well maybe not really but its a good idea eh! Here is to another year of wonderful photography on DP and ofcourse beautiful floral shots!! Anita There were some big waterfalls in Hawaii but I decided not to be too over ambitious and start with a small one ha ha Cycling through Richmond Park yesterday and was stopped in my tracks by this wonderful fully grown Male Stag who was holding fort under the shade of a tree. Bright sunshine - difficult to get exposure right so merged 3 images with Tonemapping. I know I have said this before but for me the two aspects that draw me to a shot are the light and the framing - the comp can then go from something quite ordinary to something magical....Anita Oscar!! He may look like a fluffy soft cuddly ball of fur but you try and pick him up ha ha This may not be a technical shot but I like the depth of colour and the contrast in textures. Many believe Tawny owls have exceptional night vision, however its retina is no sharper than ours. Instead it is it's asymmetrically placed ears that are key to its hunting because they give the Tawny Owl excellent directional hearing. I am off to Hawaii for a couple of weeks so will leave you with, ofcourse, a Floral Shot - taken at RHS Wisley last week during the lovely weather. Hopefully I will come back with a few Volcanic Lava shots - who knows!! Take care everyone!! I sometimes wonder if it was birds who invented colour ???? I wanted to try and bring out the contract of the black & white feathers on this wonderful bird. Not always 100% happy with my shots but am quite pleased with this one!   Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth. Durng the day the crater is fairly uninteresting, as the sun goes down the crater takes on this wonderful glow. Initially I thought this bush was in the way but it ended up giving a nice effect I love the way that nature and wildlife blend so well together - im making the most of our lovely summer flowers before we head into autumn. As always - thanks for all your lovely comments.  I am sorry I have no idea what the flower is - maybe some one else can enlighten us!! One of the many varieties of insect digesting plants. Spotted this one on a trip to the RHS Hampton Court Flower show. How could I resist this flower shot? The Waterlilly was all but submerged in the water and the fish were quite happiliy swiimming in and out of the petals. Ofcourse it was right in the middle of the pond so alot of balancing and leaning was required! Just back from my travels and was lucky enough to be able to visit the Alhambra Palace @ Granada on my day off from Trekking. Apparantly the water garden was designed specifically in order to get this wonderful reflection - stunning eh!! Magnolia is an ancient genus. Having evolved before bees appeared, Fosilised specimens of M. acuminata have been found dating to 20 million years ago, plants identifiably belonging to the Magnoliaceae dating to 95 million years ago. They sure are beautiful flowers aren't they!!   After Flowers, Birds are definitely my favourite subject matter to shoot although due to my current equipment I do have limitations as to what I can shoot that being said I still love trying : )) Happy Monday everyone!!
