Definitely a good idea but not an easy one to get perfect, I've tried many times. I suspect the key to getting it is to try for a more natural waterline as opposed to the straight cut method. The ripples is another tough one to master although I do like your approach, which filter did you use for that? While it's always good to experiment and try things like this, personally I don't think your photography needs digital trickery to make it look good. -
