Scar. This is a recent shot of a tree trunk. I was fascinated by the different textures and colours on display and spent some time trying to capture them well. I like this area of the trunk as it shows the two different textures clearly - the smooth lines in the red area contrasting with the roughness of the green outer bark. This shot makes me imagine a wild animal tearing through the bark of the tree with its talons, to reveal the muscle and flesh of the wood beneath. But maybe that's just me! I realise that abstract studies like this aren't to everyone's taste but I was really pleased to have found it. Canon 5D MKII. Canon EF L IS 70-200 @ 165mm. 1/5sec @ f16 @ ISO400.
