Bespoke Congressional Budget Guru Rep. Paul Ryan, His Washington Dc Office, April 2011, Photo By David Joseph Marcou
I'd passed by Congressional Budget Guru Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) office in Washington, DC, on two different days, in April 2011, and the second day I decided I'd walk by again, after lunch in his building. (I believe it's the Longworth HOB.) I'd also photograph Congressman Ron Kind (D-Wis.) that day, however with Ron's permission. Alone in the hall, I noticed a tall, Lincolnesque figure (though beardless) texting as he came up towards the office door. My larger digital camera misfired, so I got a quick shot off with my small point-and-shoot digital. I then waited a moment, trying to get my larger digital to work right. When it appeared good again, I walked into Rep. Ryan's office without knocking, as he was conversing with his staff. He was perfectly tailored, and wore earphones, I believe, pointing at me as I tried to snap the shutter. My camera temporarily balked, then took this picture, which reminds me of some of the photos of the great pioneering European candid-cameraman Erich Salomon.
