The Koreans, National Museum, Seoul, Korea, 1985-86, Photo By David Joseph Marcou by david marcou

Ms. Chong, a friend of mine in Seoul that David Johns had introduced me to, took me to the National Museum of South Korea in 1985 or 1986, and I photographed the lineup of mainly South Koreans waiting to visit there. It's an intriguing view, with old and new, male and female, mingled together. The view says, "These are the Koreans, who made an economic miracle in the 1970s and 1980s, and perhaps have more miracles up their sleeves, though they may not always look it. They are a hardy people, and achieve great things, when they put their bodies, minds, and souls into it, and they do that, often enough to matter.
