Glasshouse Whitefly by Huub de Waard
Trialeurodes vaporariorum, commonly known as the glasshouse or greenhouse whitefly inhabits the world’s temperate regions. It is a primary insect pest of many fruit, vegetable and ornamental crops, frequently being found in glasshouses and other protected horticultural environments. Adults are 1-2 mm in length, with yellowish bodies and four wax-coated wings held near parallel to the leaf surface (ref: Wikipedia). The whitefly is standing on a small autumn leaf. The picture has been made with magnification factor 10 and f/6.3 . Including the crop factor, the magnification factor is even 16. The large-size version of this picture can be seen on

Amazing macro work! This creature looks to be out of this world. Having in mind the 1-2mm size this shot is like a surgical operation. Too accurate. -
