Canon Powershot lens adaptors

Postby binliner on Fri Jan 05, 2007 9:22 pm

I'm new to photograpy and recently bought a Canon Powershot A640. So far so good, it's easy to use and seems to have enough features and adjustments for me to play with until the day I might know what Im doing and feel the need for an SLR!

Anyway I noticed canon sell a 58mm lense adaptor to use their telephoto or wide angle lense.... but I've seen on ebay other adaptors in 52mm or 58mm with different lenses and filters. The question is if I buy the canon adaptor will I be limited to these 2 lenses or will I be able to use others?

I'm particularly interested in whether a longer telephoto lense is available and will I be able to use a polarising filter as well?

I know, first post and lots of questions

Camera adapters

Postby Little Jo on Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:27 pm

Camera adapters tend to be camera specific as the connection to the camera isn't standard. Adding accessory lenses can compromise image quality a little too. The accessory lenses aren't cheap either. I've just acquired a Powershot G9 and the accessory lenses for that have a RRP of over £100 each. Have a look at Bristol Cameras, as their website were doing the lenses I am interested in for a very good price.
