Great photos Chloe, the BW conversion is perfect. There were some comments I wanted to make on the castle photo, but photobucket is blocked by my office firewall, so I will write them when I get home

Ok about the castle shot. I think an off center position or a composition of the castle from a different angle might be better.

It was a quick snapshot whilst passing by with family so I may have to return to play around with the composition. It was a beautiful castle so i'm sure I can experiment with different shots

I agree with Aung about the castle shot. I don't think you need to re-shoot it but crop it from the small turret on the right and lose some of the sky. Keep the land on the left so that the castle isn't too central. Then increase the brightness slightly in the water to boost the reflection. Also I'd remove the ducks with the clone stamp and the small mark in the bottom right. I've commented on your child photos in the readers gallery.

i think they are all great photos, personally, but really love the second one, with the opening of the slide (is it a slide?) framing the lad in a really nice way. I like the balance of the photos.

I agree with the other comments on the castle to make it feel a bit more of a personal touch as it feels a bit like a publicity shot. The difference a clear sky makes though! I was in caerphilly for work last year and tried to get some shots, but the dull grey sky left the whole set of pictures i took feeling really flat. I didnt try converting to B&W though, which having seen how nice yours came out, i might now try.

By the way, if you do head back there, try and head up to Castell Coch. It's a bit difficult to find a nice angle to shoot from (at least it was in the soggy conditions i visited in, not wanting to slide helplessly down the steep hill) but its a lovely looking structure, a bit like a folly, high up in the hillside.

Thanks for sharing, like the portrait shots, work great in mono. The only thing I would say is it would have been nice to have the right side of the slide opening so you had a frame the whole way round.
