What do you think of the Nikon P510? Lowest price was at 420€ today. Too pricey? What are it's competitors?

There are lots of competitors out there, in particular the Canon SX40 (i think). However, the zoom range of the Nikon would probably swing it for me. The P500 that i tested was a great camera, so the P510 is sure to be that and more.

As for the price, it really depends what you'll want it for. If you're after the zoom range then there is no doubt that it is going to be much cheaper than buying a DSLR and getting the equivalent lens.

I have it now (red). Thought that gps is a little bit slower than on my other Coolpix camera but I'll need to test it a while longer. No raw but there are the usual Nikon picture controls and user mode which I like. It would be good to be able to make viewfinder view a default setting when turning the camera on. There's a dedicated button for changing between back screen and viewfinder screen which is probably normal with bridge cameras. Zooming is fast but changing focal length without a ring is little bit slower than what I'm used to with dslr cameras. I took a few test shots of birds and animals. Now I'm hoping to learn nature photography with this camera.

Well when you get some good shots with it place them up on the forum. I'd personally love to see a shot fully zoomed out, and then the same location but zoomed right in to a far subject, just to see the power of the zoom.

I have seen some test shots using the full zoom and i'm very impressed that people can still take hand held shots at 1000mm!
