Been wandering around a very gloomy Munich today.

This is the bavarian war memorial from 19th century:

Lots of other lions around too!

Four two and a half hour shows done in 5 days, and a day off today (back at it in Nuremberg tomorrow night). Left Heilbronn around lunch time to glorious sunshine that remained with us whe we got to Nuremberg.

Got to our hotel and my room has a balcony with a view to the castle which is a mile's walk away

I took a stroll up to the castle to grab some evening shots as and after the sun set:

A waning full moon on show so I grabbed my tripod and my 400mm lens

Thanks Guys

In Dresden at the moment, beautiful city. This is the Frauenkirche in the heart of the Altstadt

Nice shot, I like the sharp church against the movement of the people.

Stunning building. Love the star burst effects on the lamps and the motion of the moving people. The building has plenty of fantastic detail - it's an amazing structure.
Personally I think you could give this image more contrast with a quick Curves adjustment in Photoshop. By making it a bit darker you will accentuate the light beams in the sky on the left, make the (Church?) lights glow more through the windows and bring out more of that great texture in the cobbles on the street. :D

In the time before I head to the stage, I relax by processing my images. I bought Silver efex pro 2 earlier today, so have been playing with that - I'll reprocess this shot through there in a bit...

Dresden is a VERY photogenic place indeed, although it was -5 when I took this shot. I'll upload more to Flikr before I put all my garb on for this evening's 3rd performance in as many days...(with Dire Straits' Alchemy Live show blasting through my Macbook's speakers....)

Like I said, Dresden is a very photogenic place, and I could spend days there, but I have had only a few hours on a two half day stint. It's definitely a place to visit. So much history and charm, and the Christmas markets about to open towards the end of the month! I will be travelling in many different parts of Europe, including Iceland (with no time for photos this time I fear), Denmark, Germany again, Switzerland and Austria.

This is my first use of Silver Efex for black and whites. I kind of like it, although I haven't had a big play yet.

This is the lion knocker on Dresden's castle. Last time I was here the door was shut, this time it was open which meant it was more side lit, so I dug out a little detail and then converted in Silver Efex

I then walked down to the Augustus bridge and took this photo through the arches:

Pentax 645D FA 120 f/4 macro f/16 0.5 sec ISO 100

Image

i returned later with my long lens to grab some mood with people in the shot. I had a lot of near misses with a nice shot of a couple but I was just too slow to catch it properly. I quite like this one although it isn't as sharp as I would like it. I like the feel of it though

Had another look at the last one and boosted the contrast and used the clarity slider a little
