The Dales & The Lakes

Postby ravens-eye on Wed Aug 03, 2011 5:41 am

Just wanted to share a series of Images from my recent visit to The Yorkshire Dales & The Lake District. This was a Family break so unfortunately didn't get time to devote 100% to photography but hope to revisit again some time soon and take my time. Was a real breath of fresh air from my usual surroundings.

Hope you enjoy

Wow you certainly did a good job in getting some keepers even if you weren't 100% there for photography!
A fantastic selection - some really great images with lovely tonal qualities. Tree at Twistleton is a fave and Ribblehead viaduct. :D

Thanks Simon, Thanks Rosie... Yes I was happy with the results given the situation.

Thankfully my other half has some patients with me. I drive her mad with how long I can take getting a shot I am looking for. Non photography minded people find it hard to understand "it's just point & click isn't it? Whats taking so long?"

Um no.... Composition, direction of light, shadow, waiting for a cloud to either cover or reveal the sun, waiting for idiots to get out of shot (ducks are the worst, you shout at them to move and they come closer thinking your gonna feed them), waiting for rain to pass, wind to ease off, cleaning filters & lens, deciding if I want to take a long exposure, HDR, straight shot are all of them or even combinations of. And tahs just one shot

The list is endless and so I was amused as she kindly said on our long drive home "Maybe you could go back for a week on your own or something next time".

What a good girl

I get the same from my wife too especially as she thinks that one shot in one place is plenty!
