Within The Frame - David duChemin

Postby valerius on Fri Apr 10, 2009 9:20 am

One of the best photographers around and one of the nicest blokes too, David duChemin is about to release a book that you just can't afford not to have in your collection. I've trawled my way through a good few books trying to learn things, pick up hints and tips, or just be inspired by the photos inside. Very few have had any real substance and most of the time i've come away thinking my money could have been much better spent on a train ticket and a couple of hours practice.

I'm half way through reading the sampler pdf that you can find on his site http://www.pixelatedimage.com/blog/2009/04/wtf/ and I can tell you already, this book is going to be an absolute stunner! Ok, so it's not much good for the environment and global warming could increase significantly as your bedside lamp is likely to be burning for a fortnight but, it'll be worth it in the long run. As Fred Pontin used to say (yes, I am that old :( ) "Book early!"

Thanks for the heads-up on that one. I've just pre-ordered the book and I have a new blog to read :)
I'm currently working on a new website, but I've got some images on flickr that you can have a look at. I've also been known to waffle a bit on twitter.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it Jamie, it's been a while since i've looked forward to a book as much as this one and even then it's not been a photography book. Having been a reader of his blog myself for a good few months now, having read that sample chapter, I can't wait for the full version!

As an update, Amazon shipped my book today, which should arrive with me tomorrow. I look forward to reading it and will most likely stick a review on my blog in due course :)

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here but just wanted to introduce myself and give out some useful advice. I work for Peachpit Press and thought you all would like to know that David duChemin has a special podcast series in the works where he gives his own personal feedback on YOUR photos. You can submit them through flickr and, if chosen, he'll let you know what he thinks! More info can be found here: http://tr.im/m85w

The premiere blacklisted_site is now live on Peachpit TV and you can view it here: http://tr.im/mzLy
