Beginner's Camera?

Postby JSabaterRomero on Fri Apr 27, 2012 9:50 pm

Hi Guys,

Im looking to upgrade from my Nikon Coolpix L110 to something bigger. The disadvantage I have with the Coolpix is that I cannot add, remove or attach any lenes of any kind. I am looking to purchase a new camera that I can use as a beginner that is a nice piece of kit but is not to complicated and to over whelming for a beginner. If anyone could point me in the right direction of what to get that would be great.

Thanks,

I've just got my first DSLR and went for a Nikon D3100. All the mags said it was a good beginner camera and it has a built in guide to help you. I think it is great.

Yeah a friend of mine has the Nikon D3000 and he loves it. I hear that they are really cool and easy to use. I have just purchased a Canon EOS 1100D Digital SLR Camera (inc. 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 DC III Lens Kit). It will arrive on monday so hopefully I can produce alot more nice shots.

Thanks

Dont just read on them, go into a store and handle them, see which one fits you, see which one has controls that make the most sense to you....consider the lens line up..consider what type of photography you want to do....everyone has their opinions on the best camera(s)...but YOU will be the one using whatever it is you wind up with.

I was in a similar situation and was between the Nikon P510 and the D3100. I opted for the P510.

I spoke to the guy in the shop who told me the D3100 may give me fractionally better pics in some scenarios due to the extra controls. However, in 'normal' scenarios the P510 would give me excellent quality pics and to get a 42x zoom on the D3100 would cost a small fortune.

Therefore, wanting to take pictures of landscapes, mountains and nature, I opted for the P510 to get the extra zoom capability. I can;t comment on it yet as it was only bought a couple of days ago and not really used yet.
