Photo 1: PERICLES (495-429 BC)
General of Athens during the city's Golden Age, which he led roughly from 461-429 BC, also known as the Age of Pericles. He started an ambitious project that built most of the surviving structures on the Acropolis (including the Parthenon).
Photo 2: THEODOROS KOLOKOTRONIS (1770-1843)
A Greek Field Marshal and one of the heroic leaders of the Greek war of independence, which broke out in 1821, against the Ottoman Empire.
Photo 3: HORATIO NELSON (1758-1805)
Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson was best known for the Battle of Trafalgar where he was fatally wounded. ('England expects that every man will do his duty').
