Good day,
I was fortunate enough to receive a Canon DSLR for Christmas the other year, the EOS 1000D, which was very new at the time.
Since then I've kept the same two lenses which I got with the camera, the stock 18-55mm and a Tamron 70-300mm which is quite a popular buy. I don't know what types of photography suit me best, so I am thankful to have such a broad focal length where I can dip in and out of different styles with relative ease. Until I find an area I am really interested and good in, I am going to be keeping these lenses and then think about getting a nice lens or two dedicated for those tasks.
I am based in Cheshire and I enjoy taking photos of what ever I can. I don't walk about with my camera, but I do take it on trips and it's nice just to get a few shots here and there. I have a good friend who ocassionally lets me take some portrait and modelling photos of her and I have some family members who are photographers or models in the Long Beach area, so they are also very good to get advice on.
I've helped as a prop-man (of sorts) on a shoot, but I generally like to keep things quite easy going.
The future goal is to earn some recognition as a photographer. It would of course be nice to earn some money on the side for doing photos, but being as new as I am, I am happy just to keep it as a good hobby.
A talented photographer who makes some Youtube videos and is a member here once reccomended interested photographers to join up, so I took his words of advice and I am planning on taking a lot of information aboard to try and improve my photography as best I can.
I have Flickr, Model Mayhem, etc. It's good just to put your work out and get some views and, of course, comments for the future.
Cheers,
S.E
