I don't take a huge number of portraits but decided to test out the Canon 5D mkIII's low light capabilities a bit more. I did use Nik's excellent Dfine for noise reduction after sharpening.


Canon 5D mk III EF 24 - 70 L @ 70mm 1/25 ISO 2500

Well, im not that impressed by the picture itself, as some kind of art. Its not that interesting for viewers who doesn't know the kid, and the composition isn't that well succesfully accomplished in my opinion. :/

What I find alot more interesting here, is that you used some kind of noise reduction which, by my humble opinion, has succeeded VERY well :) ISO 2500 is alot, and when I go on with that high a number, I normally get some grainy stuff.
Its a shame that u shot at 1/25, because its by far to slow to shooting people (especially kids! :p) when handheld :)

But +1 to the Dfine!

ISO 2500 is alot!


I often use 6400 ISO that shows less grain on my 7D
