Duplicate image finder

Postby abz_zeus on Sun Aug 02, 2009 11:17 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to sort out a lot of photos, some taken digitally some prints scanned in and some negatives scanned in.

I'm after a program to help out this task, I do however have some simple requirements that I'm having trouble finding software to meet

1 - "not a match" - the ability to record images as not a match, so subsequent scan does bring these up again

2 - full screen side by side comparison - what use is 200x200 thumbnail when comparing 4000x3000 negative scans?

3 - speed would be nice - I'm using dpeg but it's slooooow, plus even change between one set of duplicates and another can take 20 secs (and these are in a database)

Ideal program would be

Multi core compatible (i.e. uses all four cores)
MSDE or sql express for database
uses graphics card (stream processors 320 cores!)
comparison engine separate from front end (Human takes time to check each image, whilst in the back ground processor is grinding away)
network compatible - have server do grunt work whilst compare on seperate PC

Dup Alarms finds duplicate and near duplicate images by beginning and learning image pixel details. The program is easy to use, just specify the route and start the examine out. You can specify a go with % that is required to consider the image a duplicate and evaluation all found dups aspect by aspect with an option to eliminate either one.
